Erosion control and irrigation services offered by Touchstone range from automated sprinkler systems to, to the installation of gabion basket walls, armour stone walls, erosion control blankets and shoreline planting to prevent erosion and protect fish habitats. A perfect example of Touchstone's expertise in the latter area, is a project it completed for the City of St.Catharines to protect 300 feet of shoreline along the shores of Henley Island.
We co-ordinated the installation of 'live cribs', fabricated from cubes of round timbers. It's a 'natural' solution to erosion control. Over time, the plant material in the cribs develops a network of deep roots, while the timbers eventually rot away, leaving a natural erosion barrier in place.
